Artists C.V.
I lived in Sheffied for the 80s and 90s where I both trained as a doctor and attended art college. Having worked as a GP for ten years I moved to London in 1999 to do an MA in Fine Art at the University of East London. Subsequently I completed a part time Professional Doctorate in 2006.Predominantly a painter I took part in a joint show at the Underwood St gallery in London in 2001 where each artist showed work made in an unfamiliar medium. I showed a video “Rightguard”, and so began my filmaking. Since then I have worked on projects simultaneously in painting and video. My doctorate “Imminent Public Spaces” explored travel Spaces in both timebased and timeless media. The research for the doctorate was carried out on a Winston Churchill Memorial Trust travel fellowship to Moscow, Cairo and Kuala Lumpur. I have shown in Manchester and Sheffield as well as in London with video films showing at the Island Film Festival, South London Gallery and in Toronto.
